Tip #5 Event Entertainment Ideas – Choosing a stand out entertainment act

Hi, I’m Darryl from Lovegrove Entertainment. We produce fabulous ‘wow-factor’ entertainment acts that transform events. In this series I’m sharing my top 7 things to think about when hiring entertainment.OK so you’ve been working really hard putting this event together.  You’ve chosen a great menu and the perfect venue. But if the entertainment you’ve booked leaves your audience bored or even heading outside, you’ve blown it. People are counting on you to make the event fun, memorable, engaging and in good taste.
So, it’s your responsibility and you have to get the entertainment right. Because at the end of the day, no-one will remember the food, the wine or the table settings but they will remember, good and bad, the entertainment. So what are some of the things you need to think about when hiring quality entertainment?

5. Get Creative:

Today we’re focusing on point #5 and that’s thinking about what’s outside the box and how you can make your event stand out.

For many of your guests, your upcoming event won’t be the first they’ve attended. So how are you going to wow them and give them something to remember? If it’s a stand up event, think of acts such as magicians, jugglers, impersonators or even acrobats. They make great entertainment choices when you want to add some unique flair. They know how to work the crowd and help break the ice. Photo booths are instant party favorites. They provide a fun way for guests to take home a few memories from the evening. Another fun option is hiring a fortune teller to let guests know what their future holds for the coming year!

If you’re hosting a gala dinner type event then you need to need to think about creating a moment in the evening when the audience is treated to something quite special. Maybe a classical or music theatre or operatic or cirque du soleil style performance. The quality of these types of acts in this country are second to none and they’re often made up of the stars of opera and music theatre in Australia.

Some acts can split their sets through the evening. For example one of our acts, Jersey to Motown, is well known for being able to perform a dinner style performance and then later on come back and present a high energy show suited to get everyone on the dance floor. Speaking of which…if it’s an event where you know your audience will want to eventually let loose on a dance floor then you’ve got to get a great cover band or DJ. Again, you’re going to love the variety and talent Australia has to offer. Just ask your favourite entertainment agency or speakers bureau for advice, or of course give us a call. If ‘The Love Groovers’ or our DJ show the ‘Time Machine Dance Party’ doesn’t do it for you we’ll put you on to someone who can help you out.

Well, I hope that helps. Look out for the other ‘top 7 idea’ videos in this series. Thanks for listening and please feel free to leave comments. We’d love to hear from you.
